These strong shopping bags are made by hand by a social enterprise group in Ghana where water is supplied in plastic bags. However, these bags pollute the waterways and beaches as plastic does everywhere in our world so, a group of people have come up with a way to turn this waste into a product which has taught them tailoring skills and giving them an income while helping the environment. the plastic bags are stitched together in a double layer and attaching a handle. The base, which is also the zipped up casing, is made up of a beautifully coloured patchwork design of fabric offcuts. Don’t worry about the strength of the bag as it will easily cope with your shopping up to 18kg!
